GOLDEN PILLAR GOALS

Imagine people worldwide uniting across divides of religion, ethnicity, geography and politics to achieve twenty benchmarks for human excellence and societal progress over the next two decades. These "Golden Pillar Goals" provide a shared roadmap toward a more just, peaceful and sustainable global community.

Each goal springs from timeless roots -- the reciprocity embodied in the Golden Rule, which urges us to treat others as we would wish to be treated, and the sacred principle of agape, which calls us to nurture selfless and unconditional love for humanity. By grounding our efforts in these universal moral guideposts while drawing equally from diverse spiritual traditions, we can build an inclusive, global coalition that transcends historic barriers between cultures, faiths and nations.

Throughout a generation, such a movement could accomplish what no single organization or government can do alone by awakening billions of people across the world to their common humanity and shared responsibility for our collective future. Ordinary citizens will lead extraordinary change, uplifted by the knowledge that each small, daily action ripples outward to shape our shared destiny.

• Goal #1:  A world where for the first time in history all people on our planet are united in a new and true age of enlightenment as we strive to end homelessness, hunger, and physical and psychological abuse.

• Goal #2: A world where all people have the right to freedom of thought and intellectual openness.

• Goal #3: A world where we transform education by creating learning-based technologies and techniques that are cost-efficient, personally enriching, and fun.

• Goal #4: A world where we make available effective tools to learn knowledge and skills for all people regardless of age, income, gender, race, or other factors.

• Goal #5: A world where everyone serves as a good steward in caring for the environment and taking responsibility for the ecological health of our biosphere.

• Goal #6: A world where we use our intelligence and imagination to find effective ways to reverse global warming and thus reduce the impact of climate change on civilization by the end of this century.

• Goal #7: A world where we wean ourselves off our fossil fuel dependence and achieve the technological innovations needed to create millions of well-paying jobs through clean, environmentally sustainable energy industries.

• Goal #8: A world where all nations are united in the human exploration of space and the eventual settlement of other planets in our solar system. 

• Goal #9: A world where all national economies are stable to achieve prosperity and abundance of material blessings for all.

• Goal #10: A world where we encourage the entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized businesses in a spirit of creative capitalism.

• Goal #11: A world where women and men are treated fairly and equally in their jobs and careers, positions of authority, and elsewhere.

• Goal #12: A world where all nations are united in the mutual pursuit of scientific knowledge and creative intelligence for the benefit of humankind.

• Goal #13: A world where all individuals, regardless of gender, race, or creed, have diverse opportunities to grow as a true leader to serve the common good.

• Goal #14: A world where we protect and enhance the traditions of democracy throughout all nations.

• Goal #15: A world where popular sovereignty is practiced by all people throughout our planet.

• Goal #16: A world where we protect and enhance the rights of the free press for the defense and enhancement of all our other rights under democratic governance.

• Goal #17: A world where all people are treated with kindness, compassion, understanding, and empathy, regardless of national origin, ethnicity, social status, or other personal factors.

• Goal #18: A world where all people have an opportunity to enjoy physical and mental health.

• Goal #19: A world where all people build connections with each other in activities that celebrate our humanity through the arts and entertainment.

• Goal #20: A world where we achieve permanent peace for all nations by forever ending through a unity of humankind wars, terrorism, and other violent conflict.
