Based in the Silicon Valley community of Morgan Hill, Life Media Group was co-founded by Marty Cheek in 2013. Inspired by a trip as a 10-year-old to Berlin with his mother who survived World War II in that German city, the award-winning newspaper publisher and transformational media entrepreneur seeks a vision for uniting humanity through the power of media. As the co-founder of Life Media Group which manages publications Morgan Hill Life and Gilroy Life, Marty focuses on creating innovations in community-centered journalism. He believes journalism can highlight everyday heroes while confronting humanity's biggest challenges.
His calling as a unifier crystallized when co-writing the book Clean Energy Nation: Freeing America from the Tyranny of Fossil Fuelswith Congressman Jerry McNerney published in 2012. Recognizing media's power to energize social movements, Marty launched the Vision-2020 campaign with business partner Robert Airoldi - rallying citizens across divides to achieve twenty "Golden Pillar Goals" for human excellence within two decades. The campaign's ultimate goal is to encourage Americans to stop fighting and start uniting as leaders to build a better world for all humanity – including achieving global peace by Christmas Day in the year 2040.
A relentless optimist, Marty’s own books, like the nonfiction Vision-2020: Be a Hero for Humanity and his novel Humanity, further illuminate the power of ordinary people to shape our shared destiny when united by high ideals.
Marty Cheek’s vision seeks for America’s future to blend pragmatic idealism with innovative media technology to spotlight the change that becomes possible when humanity stops fighting and starts uniting together for a noble cause. At 57 years old, Marty's dreams still aim toward the audacious horizon of hope.
